2012 NBA Predictions UPDATE

Kevin Durant

Oklahoma City Thunder will win 50 games.

Kevin Durant is the new Kobe, the Thunder are going to be dominate for years to come. 50 sounds like a lot but for this group, I think it is something they can do.

Miami Heat will win 55 games.

Seems like maybe after getting beat by the Mavericks the Heat will take this season seriously. Also, the Eastern Conference is really weak this year. 55 wins is like an .830 winning percentage, which would be amazing, but with their team, it should be something they can pull off.

Kevin Durant will win the MVP.

As per earlier, Kevin Durant is the new Kobe. I’d be willing to make this prediction for the next decade.

*UPDATE* – Oklahoma City won 47 games, and Miami won 46. MVP is still TBD.

2012 NHL Predictions UPDATE

Sidney Crosby announces his retirement from the NHL.

While I definitely don’t want this prediction to come true, but I also don’t want to see this kid get hurt and end up physically incapacitated for the rest of his life. He’s a big enough star that he can leave the game now, and still have an impact in the city of Pittsburgh and to the NHL community as a whole, even if it is not on the ice.

Boston Bruins repeat as Stanley Cup Champions.

The saying goes “never trust a man with two first names”. There should be an * in there, and the footnote should be:

* – Except for Tim Thomas

He can lead the Bruins to another Stanley Cup, no questions asked.

*UPDATE* – I was way off.

NHL 13 – There Is No Curse Trailer

It’s good to know that EA Sports can poke fun at themselves, and they definitely do in this trailer for NHL 13‘s Cover Vote. These seems like the most opportune time for NHL team to poke fun at the Madden team, with Peyton Hillis coming off one of the worst seasons for a cover athlete in history.

It also seems like the NHL Playoffs is a good time to try to cash in on this. Unlike the Madden Cover Vote that takes place in the off season.

Expect NHL 13 to release in September for PS3 and Xbox 360.
