On The Stage Friday: Steve Jobs

This week we lost a titan of the technology industry in Steve Jobs. While he will always be remembered for bringing great products to the world, he will also go down in history as one of the greatest presenters of all time.

His keynote speeches have had books written about it, that is how good he was. One constant was always his presentation “uniform”. Taking the stage in his trademark sneakers, jeans, and a black turtleneck always made him feel like a normal guy, not some corporate shill in a suit.

Steve, thank you for everything.

On The Field Friday: Arsenal Away 2011-12

No Comments on On The Field Friday: Arsenal Away 2011-12

Today’s On The Field Friday is Arsenal’s 2011-12 Away jersey. Obviously the blue and black color scheme is a big departure from lasts years yellow away jersey which has now become their 3rd.  Another noticeable feature is the Gunnars 125th year anniversary logo.

This is a very nice jersey, however with the loss of Nasri and Fabergas, the team will not live up to these jerseys. In the mean time the man to watch is Robin van Persie, not many other players have been pulling their weight on Arsenal this year.

On The Field Friday – Bayern Munich International 2011-12

Today’s On The Friday brings to you the Bayern Munich International Jersey for 2011-12. Recently Bayern kicked off their 2011–12 UEFA Champions League run sporting a stylish new black jersey.

This is a nice change up from their usual blue 3rd jerseys. By far my favorite aspect of this jersey are the red with white boarder numbers on the back. While the red white and black jersey color has been sweeping through FIFA this year, this is a very nice change up from the horizontal stripes most teams are sporting.

After watching Bayern defeat Zurich 2-0 in their first game of the Champions League, this jersey, with Arjen Robben’s number 10, will be a future purchase for me.

What are your thoughts on Bayern Munich’s International jersey for 2011-12? Let us know in the comments below.

XLARGE “X-Baseball” Review

Do you have an iPod, iPhone or iPad? Do you like games you can play for two minutes and put down? Do you like baseball? If you answered yes to any of these questions, go to the App Store now and download XLARGE “X-Baseball”.

X-Baseball is a very simple one button game. As the pitch comes in, touch anywhere on the screen to swing. Sounds simple enough right? The pitcher throws pitches with multiple archs, and to rack up points all you have to do is get hits.

The better timing you have the more points you get. Also, there are birds and other objects flying through the air, if you hit them, you get bonus points. The catch is you only get 3 strikes, however you can remove strikes by hitting a hand of bananas thrown from the stand.

While this is a fairly simple game, it can get very hard. After a while a relief gorilla comes in to pitch. Yes, I said gorilla. He throws harder and varies up the speed and arch more then the human pitcher that starts the game.

The best part of this game is that it is free. While I would definitely pay $.99 for this game, free just opens it up to that many more people. I warn you, this game is highly addictive.

Be sure to go pick it up in the App Store, its free so even if you hate it for some reason (the problem must be with you)  then just delete it.  This game also has Game Center integration built in, so go see how you match up against me, username: ThatSportsGamer.
